STEP Program for High School Students
Mission
The STEP Program provides an opportunity for high school or home- schooled students to take college courses. Students may choose to do so to finish requirements for a high school diploma or for personal enrichment purposes.
Transfer Opportunities
College level courses taken at NSCC may be transferred to a 4-year college or university. The Joint Admission Program at NSCC provides a great opportunity to gain admission to participating colleges or universities.
Important Registration Information
PLACEMENT TESTING
Prior to registration, students may be required to take a series of placement tests to assist with class selection. These tests are used to determine whether potential students are ready for the college level coursework offered through the STEP program. Potential STEP students who have already taken the SATs may wish to submit these scores for review as well.
Please call the Testing Hotline at 978-762-4000 x4376 or 781-593-6722 x4376 for details about placement testing.
PREREQUISITES
Most courses have prerequisite requirements. Each course description will include information on any prerequisite that must be met in order to take that particular course. High school courses do not count as pre-requisites for college level courses.
People with questions regarding prerequisites may call the Enrollment and Records Office at 978-762-4000.
